Mr. Angus Choi began serving as Chief Executive Officer of Joint Electronic Teller Services Limited (“JETCO”) in December 2014, overseeing the company’s day-to-day operations and driving the expansion of its automated teller machine (“ATM”) network and introducing diversified FinTech solutions to promote the development of the local financial market in Hong Kong and Macau. Mr. William Yeung is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries with solid experience in digital commerce and Insurtech applications. He is the co-founder & CEO of MediConCen Limited, which is an Insurtech company which utilizes blockchain to automate insurance claim and the company launched the first-in-Asia blockchain medical ecosystem with leading insurers.
After working in the actuarial teams of a number of major insurers, he was appointed Director, Digital Commerce at FWD and he has co-founded FWD's digital insurance platform and leading the product and marketing functions. Starting from scratch, the platform ranked number 1 in sales by annualized premium equivalent. He then joined ZhongAn Technologies International as Founding Member helping ZhongAn to develop business outside China.
Barry O’Byrne was appointed Chief Executive of Global Commercial Banking in February 2020, having served in the role on an interim basis since August 2019.
He is responsible for a business serving about 1.4 million customers across 53 markets, ranging from small enterprises focused on their home markets through to corporates operating internationally.
Mr O’Byrne joined HSBC as Group General Manager and Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Global Commercial Banking in April 2017, responsible for strategic change initiatives, data and analytics, middle office and the leadership of regional COOs. He was appointed as a Group Managing Director in March 2020.
He joined HSBC from GE Capital, where he worked for 19 years across a number of senior leadership roles. At GE Capital his most recent appointment was CEO for GE Capital International. Previously he was COO for GE Capital International, with responsibility for the group’s operations, technology, strategic initiatives and simplification strategy across more than 20 markets.
Mr O’Byrne has also held CEO positions in Italy, France and the UK and has served on boards in the UK, Switzerland, Germany, Italy and Spain. He has a degree in Business Studies and French from the University of Limerick, and lives in Hong Kong with his wife and three daughters.

Eric Xin is CITIC Capital's Senior Managing Director, Managing Partner of Trustar Capital and has been with the firm since 2002. Previously, Mr. Xin was a management consultant at Mckinsey & Company in Shanghai and Washington D.C focusing on helping Japanese and U.S multinationals source and set up factories in China. Dr. Timothy Tong is the Chairman of the board of directors and independent director of AMTD Digital. Nathan Wong oversees FinTech development in Bank of Communications Co., Ltd. Throughout 12 years in the bank, he contributed to various innovative banking projects. The “Connect” 4-phase project streamlined the time-critical executive approval by mobile and social technologies, winning Oracle Mobile Innovation Global Award in 2015. Lukas has been involved in various initiatives that have shaped Hong Kong’s capital markets over the past decade, including HKEX’s acquisition of the London Metal Exchange; China-Hong Kong Stock Connect; Bond Connect; and the landmark reforms of Hong Kong’s listing regime that have propelled it to the #1 global IPO venue in 7 of the past 12 years.
In her role as Director at UBS Evolve, Veronika is responsible for facilitating and advising on internal innovation initiatives, sourcing & partnering with external fintech solutions, and identifying investment opportunities for future growth.
Before joining UBS, she was helping Grab Financial execute on their SuperApp strategy and DigiBank ambitions by leading the Product Development for a new Wealth Management Platform called GrabInvest (through acquisition of B2B startup Bento Invest) and preparing the product launch of their first micro-investment proposition, recently launched for app users in Singapore.
She also spent 8 years at HSBC working on various Digital Strategy projects and ran a dedicated FinTech Accelerator program in Hong Kong called SuperCharger, helping startups find new Product-Market fit, partner with large corporates, raise Venture Capital funding and scale their businesses across Asia.
Her passion is around helping people develop and improve their financial literacy, adapt to the digital age of managing their finances through savings and investments, and in that way take control of their life plans and their future.
Edmond Lau has 20 years of experience in investment, financing and business development, and is currently the CFO and Co-founder of Babel Capital focusing on fintech and digital assets. He was the Managing Director of Lingfeng Capital, Head of Innovative Incubation Centre/ Head of Merger & Integration in SF-Express responsible for fintech and logistic tech investments. Prior to that, he served as the Head of Investment in FIH Mobile and the Investment Director in CLSA Capital Partners focusing on AI, mobile, and water technologies. Edmond was previously a Vice President in Citigroup and a senior consultant in Accenture providing financing solutions and strategic advices to telecom, media and technology corporations.
Edmond holds an MBA (distinction, Dean’s list) from London Business School, a Bachelor of Information Engineering (first class) from Chinese University of HK, and a Bachelor of Laws from China University of Political Science and Law. Edmond is devoted to technology development and is often invited to be a guest speaker/ panelist at prominent tech functions. He is the founding board member of CFA Shenzhen Association, Co-President of Hong Kong Internet Finance Association, board member of Hong Kong Business Angel Network, and a former board member of CFA Hong Kong. Edmond is a member of Entrepreneurship Committee Advisory Group of Cyberport, and an adjunct professor in the EMBA program in City University of HK. Edmond is also a CFA, a FRM and a Chevening scholar.
