Ms. Jessica Tan is currently Co-CEO of Ping An Group (the “Group”), overseeing the Group’s insurance, technology and healthcare businesses. She sits on the Group’s Executive Committee and Investment Management Committee for its over 30 subsidiaries across Insurance, Banking, Investment, Technology and Internet businesses. She is in charge of 10+ Ping An subsidiaries. Ms. Tan also serves on the board of a number of subsidiaries under Ping An Bank, Ping An Property & Casualty, Ping An Life, and Ping An Asset Management.
In Ms. Tan’s 9 years at Ping An, the Group grew from the world’s 30th largest financial conglomerate into the 2th, serving 668 million online users and 225 million financial customers. Moreover, Ping An made major strides in technology and innovation, having established research institutes and increasing its R&D staff from to over 30,000 (including nearly 3,900 scientists). The Group has filed over 43,000 patent applications around the world, ranking 1st for fintech, AI and digital healthcare globally. In addition, Ping An has won over 70 international championships in the last 5 years, including image recognition, semantic understanding, deep learning, medical imaging, intelligent diagnosis, and has published over 250 papers in internationally renowned journals covering healthtech, AI and other fields, such as The Lancet and American Journal of Kidney Diseases.
Ms. Tan serves as a member of several government advisory committees, including a global director of the Institute of International Finance (IIF), a member of the International Association for the Study of Insurance Economics (the Geneva Association), a member of international advisory panel for Human Health and Potential (HHP) of Singapore, a member of International Advisory Board (IAB) of University of Oxford Blavatnik School of Government, an international Advisor of Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), a member of Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), and an expert advisor of Shenzhen Advisory Committee, as well as an advisor of Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and Seoul International Business Advisory Council (SIBAC). She also represented Ping An as one of Co-Chairs for the World Economic Forum (WEF) Davos event in 2019. Ms. Tan received the Chinese Government Friendship Award in 2019. In 2020, Ms. Tan was listed by the Fortune magazine as the second most powerful woman outside of the US, and won the “Best 2 CEO” award from Institutional Investor’s 2020 All-Asia Executive Team rankings. In 2021, Ms. Tan was named Her World magazine's Woman of the Year, and ranked 6th on the World’s 50 Greatest Leaders list by the Fortune magazine.
Before joining Ping An, Ms. Tan served as a global partner at McKinsey & Company. In her 13 years with McKinsey in the USA and ten Asian countries, Ms. Tan has worked with over 30 world-leading financial and technology companies and regulatory authorities, focusing on strategy, innovation, operations and technology. She graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), with a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science and two bachelor’s degrees in Electrical Engineering and Economics respectively. As a native Singaporean, Ms. Tan is married and has two daughters.
