Kathy is the Vice President of Group Strategy for FWD Group since Dec 2019, driving the corporate strategy, strategic planning and execution, develop execution enablers and bring the Strategy to fruition with strategic initiatives.
Before joining FWD, Kathy has worked over 20 years in AIA, HSBC, Transamerica and PCCW locally and regionally across Strategy, Product, and Digital, pioneering new innovation commercialization and proposition, leading strategy and transformational initiatives and developing successful strategic partnerships and new business development.
As Head of Fintech at InvestHK, the department of the Hong Kong SAR Government responsible for attracting Foreign Direct Investment, King’s mission is to foster a more vibrant fintech ecosystem in Hong Kong and Greater Bay Area (GBA) where King has the privilege to work closely with major fintech stakeholders – leading financial services institutions, fintech companies, accelerators, innovation labs, investors, regulators, universities, etc. In another complementary role, King also serves as Visiting Lecturer in Fintech at Institute for China Business (中国商学院) of The University of Hong Kong in China in which King has extraordinary exposure to Mainland China fintech and financial services executives.
Prior to his Fintech immersion, King’s tech entrepreneurial career included his role as angel investor in startups involving artificial intelligence, Big Data and Insurtech; founder of a data management platform and lead generation startup funded by Credit Suisse; transformed Datatrade from a traditional direct marketing agency into a multiple awards winning CRM and loyalty marketing agency.
Recognized for his industry domain experience, King has been invited to serve in leadership roles at Fintech Association Hong Kong (Insurtech Committee), The Marketing Society Asia, [Digital-Direct] Marketing Association, Asia America Multi-technology Association, Young Entrepreneurs Development Council, etc.
Prior to his entrepreneurial career, King was a management consultant in strategy, operation and information technology with Booz Allen Hamilton and KPMG Consulting in USA and UK. King was also in technology investment as a venture capitalist at Innovate@ (a tech fund co-managed by Booz Allen Hamilton & Lehman Brothers in USA).
King Leung holds an MBA (Hons) in Finance and Strategy from University of Chicago, and BSc (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from University of Wisconsin – Madison.
Ming Shu, CFA is a partner at Lingfeng Capital. He has over 17 years of global investment experience. Previously, Mr. Shu served as group vice president in charge of mergers and acquisitions at SF Express, head of the greater China team and a member of the Asia-Pacific Investment Committee at Henderson Equity Partners, and an associate at Goldman Sachs Principle Investment Areas. He also has operational experience as a senior executive at multinational financial institutions and China-originated global leaders. Mr. Shu served as CEO of the Financial Service Business Group at SF Express, a member of the Global Leadership Team of Alibaba, chief strategy officer at Ant Financial, and chief operations officer Asia at Henderson Global Investors. He is a founding board member of CFA Society Beijing. Mr. Shu received a BA in mathematics and computer science from Macalester College, an MBA from Harvard Business School, and an MS and a PhD in biomedical engineering from Duke University.
Val is the CEO and Founder of PolicyPal, Asia's leading insurtech firm that helps you to understand your insurance needs and empowers you to take control of your financial future. PolicyPal is supported by 500 Startups, PayPal and angel investor, Koh Boon Hwee.
A former sales broker at Allianz, Val is passionate about making financial planning affordable and accessible to everyone. Upon graduation, she worked as a Risk Assurance Consultant at PwC in London. After that, Val went on to become the Assistant Vice President at OCBC Bank in Singapore, focusing on launching digital campaigns, and working closely with wealth management and marketing to drive innovations. Val who was named to Forbes “30 Under 30” list for Finance and Venture Capital, Fortune “40 under 40” list for Finance, Linkedin’s Power Profiles in Singapore - 2016, 2017, 2018 and Fellow at Singapore University of Social Sciences, is a post-graduate with MSc Business Management at Imperial College London and BA Digital Media at the University of the Arts London.
She's a frequent speaker at universities and conferences. Val has appeared in the Forbes Magazine, Fortune Magazine, Nikkei News, Singapore Straits Times, Business Times Newspaper, Bloomberg, KPMG, Women’s Weekly, Singapore Radio Station MoneyFM and many others. Val has also published her memoir BALLS INC., sharing her experience as a female tech entrepreneur and insight into insurtech and startup. When not at work, Val is an avid globe-trotter and a sports enthusiast who has completed six Spartan races in a year.
Kevin Angelini is the regional Head of Strategy and M&A, Asia Pacific and joined Zurich in 2019. His responsibility is to shape our strategy across APAC, drive strategic initiatives, identify and execute inorganic opportunities and new partnerships.
Prior to joining Zurich, he was most recently a Senior Director at Willis Towers Watson where he was Head of Greater China, Insurance Consulting & Technology at Willis Towers Watson. Prior to that, he worked for over 10 years in Generali where he worked in several markets (Mainland China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Italy) and built up and led their regional Strategy and M&A function.
Kevin is a Chartered Accountant and has a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from University College London, a Master’s degree in Insurance & Risk Management from MIB School of Management, and EMBA from Kellogg School of Management.
